These pictures were taken in May 2005, but Matthew actually drew the picture and entered in his school's
Reflections contest in September 2004 (1st grade).
The contest's theme was "A Different Kind of Hero" and Matthew wanted to draw a picture to
represent the Relay for Life and he told me to write on the back in the spot explaining
his picture that "people who fight cancer are a different kind of hero."
He won 1st place at his school and earned the right to have his picture sent to the State's contest.
It took the whole school year to get his picture back.
He didn't win at State, but that is a-ok! We're all really proud of you Matthew!!
