Vacation to Tennessee
May 26-June 1, 2006

Mom grew up in east Tennessee and now we are finally getting to visit!!
Grandma Grigsby had got really sick right before our vacation, so we spent a lot of time helping her and grandpa.
But we also had time for fun when my other cousins came from Utah too. We went canoeing on the City Park pond in grandpa's FOUR canoes.
One weekend Lane, mom, dad, and I drove to Chattanooga to visit my great grandparents.
That was really neat because they had never met me before and Lane was only 2 when they last saw him.

A Tunnel of Trees
Trees overhanging roads like this are everywhere!

We visited my great grandparents (Grandpa Grigsby's mom and dad) in Chattanooga. Great grandma has arthritis so bad she can't get out of the chair without a lot of help. Great granpda does a good job taking care of her and he's going to be 90 this year! Great grandpa LOVES any kind of puzzle. Here he's showing me a Rubik's Cube. I LOVED it too! When we got back to Vernal, mom bought me one and then we looked up cheats after I begged and begged for them. I finally memorized how to work it and can AMAZE my friends by solving it in 4 minutes! But anyway, my mom sure was excited to see her grandma after not seeing her in 8 years! Great grandma gave my mom that doily that she made about 40 years ago. Mom was really happy about that.

Also while in Chattanooga, we visited Point Park on Lookout Mountain. At Point Park there is lots of history about the Civil War battle on Lookout Mountain. It was called The Battle Under the Clouds. This is a picture from the view of Point Park overlooking the Tennessee River and Chattanooga. We also walked along the Tennessee River at Ross's Landing and there are these cool canons that shoot water out. Chattanooga is a pretty city.

WATER FIGHT!!!
Grandpa Grigsby has FOUR canoes and loves to have fun! He took all the grandkids that were there and my dad to the City Park to go canoeing. It was so HOT AND MUGGY that after 15 minutes of paddling around, we were soaked with sweat, so it felt good to splash each other with water.
Grandpa sure knows how to win a water fight with canoe paddles!

Here you can see the four canoes.
Lane is in the white one on the left all by himself.
Then you can see my dad in the red one and cousin Mckayla is riding with him.
The green one in the middle is cousin Stephen and I.
Then you can see grandpa soaking everyone--and cousin Erick and Desi are with him.

I'm trying to figure out how to get a good splash with my paddle.
Stephen and I are not doing a good job against grandpa, Erick, and Desi.

I think Lane is losing the battle too!!
Grandpa just can't be beat!!

Stephen and I after a nice soaking!
It was great!!!

When we were leaving, dad took this picture of us
with Grandma Grigsby.

If you're ever visiting east Tennessee, especially Oneida, TN and anywhere near the
Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area, then feel free to give grandpa and grandma a call
and stay at the Oneida Guest House, which they own!
I thought it was sooooooooo cool that they "owned a motel!"
We got to stay in the Oak View Suite!
